In-N-Out Burger I am Not
September 14th, 2007 categories: Just Because
Over the past several days I have received numerous phone calls looking for In-N-Out Burger on Broadway Blvd. Seems the 411 people like my number (520) 918–5116. Though I am honored by the calls, and I love eating their burgers, I am not In-N-Out Burger. So, why the calls?
My office is at 3130 E. Broadway Blvd. While In-N-Out Burger is located a few blocks away at 3711 E. Broadway. It all goes back to my blog welcoming In-N-Out back on April 23rd. I have been receiving sporadic calls ever since. More calls recently. I called In-N-Out to get the local number, they directed me to their 800 number.
Please allow me to point you in the right direction:
If looking for In-N-Out Burger at 3711 E. Broadway you can either call (800) 786-1000, contact them on the Internet or stop by the store directly. Who knows, you may run into me there.
However, since your are here and if you need a good Realtor, give me a call (520) 918–5116/(520) 954–2209, or you can contact me via the Internet. Enjoy a great burger.

What Does Countrywide Know That We Do Not?
August 10th, 2007 categories: Just Because
Those who lived through the Great Depression had it hard. We haven’t come close to what they suffered. Needless to say they definitely had it worse, and they managed to survive. They survived to meet another challenge better known as World War II and brought us The Greatest Generation. I know this is going to spark a lot of comment from the doom & gloom the sky is falling readers. That’s OK. Just hear me out. There’s two sides to every coin.
Last week we saw American Home Mortgage leave the industry. There has been a lot of debate concerning the mortgage industry and its future. Greed from sub-prime lenders has lead to many a demise. The hardest market hit is that of selling second loans. Countrywide and Washington Mutual reported the lack of liquidity this week.

Glenn Kelman of Redfin
August 3rd, 2007 categories: Just Because
I have to say, I don’t care for Redfin. I didn’t like the one sided 60 Minute interview either. I firmly believe that a full service brokerage for sellers and buyers is the best way to go. There are a lot of hidden protections and service there. You get what you pay for. Its like my neighbor who accidental dropped a penny in the cigarette lighter of his Escalade. He tried to use a shade tree mechanic to rewire it. Ended up costing him double by the time he took it to the “full service” dealership. As a free market I understand there needs to be a balance between FSBO, discount brokerages, and full service brokerages. When it comes to changing oil or rotating tires, do it yourself works. If its beyond simple, going full service is the key. There, enough about Redfin.
I do have to admit that Glenn Kelman is a charismatic speaker. At the Inman conference Glenn Kelman spoke about blogging. He made some good points about writing. I am curious about whether he can take his company to the level that he wants. He does have a BHAG (Big Harry Audacious Goal). I am reminded of Lee Iaccoca and where he led Chrysler. What happened to Chrysler when Lee Iaccoca left? He may have been charismatic, but, not as great a leader as he believed.
I doubt that Glenn Kelman will ever be a Coleman Mockler who lead Gillette through a hostile take over to become a Good to Great company. He has been successful with his company. Redfin and Glenn Kelman will always be controversial subject. Glenn’s guardian angel is probably reading this and telling him. That’s OK. Glenn, you can comment all you want. All I can say is, “Glenn, keep giving us ammunition to write about.” I do have to humbly admit, never thinking I would say this, I did enjoy your presentation on line.

An Independence Day Thank You
July 4th, 2007 categories: Just Because
As a USMC Veteran I would like to thank all who have served, all who are serving, and all who will serve in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard of our great nation. Without the commitment and sacrifice of all of our military personnel we would not be the great nation that we are.
My family thanks you and I personally thank our forefathers who risked their lives by signing the Declaration of Independence as well each and every active, retired, former military and future military person for caring enough about our nation to put their lives in harms way.

My Newest Hero - Kyle Lograsso
June 23rd, 2007 categories: Just Because
Sometimes we get to involved with ourselves, with what others say or think, being negative, world conflict, and not enjoying life or appreciating our fellow man/woman. Then something happens to bring us back to reality. Thanks Hero!
While watching the Golf Channel I was stopped by a story of a young boy not quite 5 years old with the courage greater than the universe and a heart greater than the Grand Canyon. You can read about Kyle Lograsso in the May 2007 edition of Golf Digest, page 109.
His story in Golf Digest says it all. Just a quick exert, “From life’s darkness into its light he has come. On May 28, he turned 5 years old. He almost didn’t make it. He’s still shorter than a SasQuatch driver and weighs less than a big bag. Crazy to say, but the kid’s a player with a nice little swing. Gets it to 53 miles per hour on the launch monitor, hits it 50 or 60 yards on the fly.”
I think Kyle Lograsso can teach us all a lesson or two. Not just about golf, but, life itself.
Kyle, you are my hero! His mom and dad are special too, Semper Fi Marine.
