Honoring Memorial Day 2008
May 23rd, 2008 categories: Just Because
Please remember those who have gone before us on this important day. As a former Marine, this picture touches me. I do not like war. I do understand there are unfortunate times when war is necessary. Unfortunately, we are living one of those times now. Unfortunately we are in a war like none we have experienced. I understand there are those of us who have volunteered to put ourselves in harms way. I understand that unfortunately some do not come home.
Anyone who knows me, knows I have a soft spot for Veterans and their families. Lets put our differences aside and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.
On May 5, 1868 General John Logan proclaimed May 30th as Memorial Day by General Order No. 11. Organized women’s groups in the south had been decorating graves long before the end of the Civil War. New York was the first state to recognize Memorial Day in 1873. By 1890 all Northern states honored our fallen warriors. Memorial Day is a day to remember all those who fought for our freedom. The current battles on foreign lands create a lot of controversy.
If anyone wonders why we are over there, whether Iraq, Afghanistan or anywhere else, there are some dates to remember for those who are not here with us today. Since 1979 we have been slowly, meticulously and ruthlessly drug into a war we never asked for. A war that is taking many American lives.

What Can Yahoo Do That Google Cannot?
December 6th, 2007 categories: Just Because
What Can Yahoo Do That Google Cannot? The answer is simple, respond. Here’s the story.
Several months ago I wrote a blog welcoming In-N-Out Burger to Tucson. Got a lot of hits. Great, more readers to my blog. Then the phone calls started coming. Somehow, my telephone number was being given out as the phone number for In-N-Out Burger in Tucson. I wrote a blog In-N-Out Burger I Am Not. Called 411 to get it corrected. A representative from 411 contacted me and corrected it. Calls stopped, but, not forever.
A few weeks back I started getting calls again; up to 12 a day. Tried to put a spin on it to let the callers know if they needed a good Real Estate Agent keep my number. It wouldn’t be bad, but, these calls have been interrupting time with clients. Not the caller’s fault. I politely give the callers the right number 1-800-786-1000, laugh about keeping my number and move on.
I contacted Google; good luck. Got the run around to contact this and that, still not fixed. I contacted Yahoo, received a message wrong department, however, they would see it got to the right department. Within 24 hours problem at Yahoo fixed. Got a survey from Yahoo to insure quality service. Gladly responded with praise. A week later, problem with Google still exists.
Google may have the systems, but, they lack the service. Which in today’s world can kill a business. So, as you can see Yahoo has GOOD SERVICE. Google? Still waiting. Maybe somebody from Google will read this and fix it. Meanwhile, don’t be surprised if you get me when looking for In-N-Out Burger. I’ll keep giving out their number 1–800–786–1000 no additional charge.

The Interview With God
November 27th, 2007 categories: Just Because
My wife and youngest son like to send me all kinds of messages. Some I read, some I don’t. I took the sixty seconds to watch this one. It was worth it. I was struck by the beautiful scenes and the words that say it all. The Interview With God. Click preview presentation and enjoy.

Happy Veterans Day
November 11th, 2007 categories: Just Because
To all those who have served our great nation. Thank you.
Frances Scott Key said it best in 1814 when he wrote the Star Spangled Banner lyrics:
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
‘Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
