About

doug.jpgMeet Doug

I retired from public safety service in 2000. Knowing I had to compete with younger adults fresh from college with their Bachelor’s Degree , I decided to go a step further and get my Master’s Degree in Business through the University of Phoenix with an emphasis on marketing.

Now I am in a better career where I market myself, as well as clients homes. I market myself to home buyers and sellers. I market client’s homes to buyers looking for the right home. What I learned in graduate school has given me an edge that I can best describe as exceptional service. Hence my personal statement, “I’ll exceed your expectations, while you enjoy the important things in life.” I always tell clients exactly what I know I can deliver on my worse day. Then I deliver far more than my clients expect. I feel like you can never give enough.

From 1972 to 1974 I served a short term in the Marine Corps. I chose my wife over reenlisting. After 32+ years of marriage, I think I made the right decision.

From 1996 to 2006 I kept a commitment to my wife, mother-in-law, and father-in-law to care for him as long as it took following a severe stroke. The least I could do after the way they treated me after I got out of the service. My mother-in-law blessed us with her presence until 2003. One son is married. The other is serving our country. The only grandson from the first son is a whole new experience. Now that my wife and I are Empty Nester’s, I am moving forward on a career I held in limbo to keep my commitment to my in-laws. More training, more learning, more certifications, and more to offer clients.

In 2006 I acquired my Broker’s license, as planned. There is much more to come. I look at my business as Stephen Covey’s sixth habit, “Sharpen the saw.” I am consistently sharpening the saw to remain in the forefront and to give my clients more. I am never satisfied that what I gave yesterday is good enough for today. If you deserve exceptional, extraordinary service, you need look no further. Here I am.

For hobbies, I like to play golf whenever I can. I try to get out an practice once a week. I like to tell my partners that I pay less per ball hit than they do. That’s slowly changing though. I still enjoy muscle cars and hot rods. Someday I’ll get back to work on that 63′ Nova sitting under the cover next to the house. Our youngest son’s 67′ Chevelle sits in the garage while my vehicle sits outside. There’s nothing like the Hearbeat of America under the hood.

I like reading books about business, successful people, and a little self-improvment. Currently I am reading Go Long by Jerry Rice. One of my favorite athletes. His work ethic and commitment is comendible. Ben Hogan had a similar work ethic to commit to excellence. I like reading about these type of people and relate what they have learned to what I offer.

My Dream Team. From left to right our oldest son Javier, me, our youngest son Orlando and our golf instructor, Henry Madril.

Now you know a little about me, Real Estate Professional, husband, father, grandfather, gear head, student of business, and avid golfer.
