Downtown Tucson Goes Sushi
Over two years ago my son and his friend approached me to help them find a building to lease or purchase for a restaurant. We looked at property in the complex at Silverbell and Grant. It met their needs, but, a pool supply retailer beat them to it. We talked about downtown Tucson and Rio Nuevo. They liked the idea and looked at several properties. Settling on a property owned by John Wesley Miller. For those who know Tucson, its in the old McLellan’s building.
After two long years of bureaucratic red tape, architectural redesign, and the last few months of construction their dream is becoming a reality. On Monday, Sept. 22, 2008 On-A-Roll Sushi Bar and Restaurant will become a reality for the public. I have sampled their menu. I was not a sushi lover before. Convert me. I am now, at least at On-A-Roll. Downtown employees are going to get a real treat come Monday at 11:00 AM and the days that follow. Arizona Daily Star has already written an article on the opening. Some media members will have a chance to comment for the public at their private introduction on Saturday.
Our son Javier has already started his new career as the General Manager, and his friend Dominic is realizing what it takes to be an entrepreneur and own a restaurant. Stop by 63 E. Congress and see for yourself. You’ll be glad you did.
